Tiffany Chung: Play

Tyler Rollins Fine Art is delighted to present a new series of works by Tiffany Chung, one of a select group of cutting edge Vietnamese artists who have gained international attention in recent years. Her current exhibition of photographs and sculptures, entitled Play, is inspired by Vietnamese propaganda art as filtered through the lens of contemporary youth culture. In Chung’s photographs, Vietnamese teenagers in colorful uniforms adopt poses taken from old propaganda posters, incorporating these familiar revolutionary motifs into their manga-inspired world of fantasy and costume play. Play is Chung’s first solo exhibition in New York.

Chung is currently one of the featured artists in the traveling exhibition, transPOP: Korea Vietnam Remix, which will be on view at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco from December 6, 2008 to March 15, 2009.
